Please wear dance appropriate clothing to class. Jeans are not acceptable. Hair must be pulled back away from the face. All shoes and attire (with the exception of cheerleading shoes) can be purchased at Turning Pointe, a local dance supply store. Please see the front desk regarding any questions you may have about your dancer’s shoes and attire.
Please remember: Cell Phones must be turned off before entering the dance room. For the safety of the dancer, chewing gum is not allowed.
Tiny Toes
Age 2 by September 1, 2010
For the youngest dancer, Tiny Toes is a creative introduction to the basic movements of dance. Classes will be offered in both the morning and afternoon.
Kinderdance
Level 1: Ages 2.5-3 (must be 3 by September 1, 2010)
Level 2: Ages 3-4
Kinderdance is an introduction to the basic fundamentals of ballet. Students will participate in a formal class setting. This class will be offered in both the morning and afternoon.
Dance Attire: pink leather ballet shoes, socks or tights, leotard
Ballet
Age 5 and Older
For the ballet students working towards proper technique, body positioning, strength and flexibility. Please note the advanced classes will meet for an hour and a half.
Dance Attire: pink leather ballet shoes, tights, leotard
Pointe
Students must have teacher approval to take this class. Students must also be registered for a Ballet technique class in addition to the Pointe class.
Dance Attire: pink leather ballet shoes, pointe shoes, tights, leotard
*Please refrain from purchasing Pointe shoes until after the first class, when your child’s teacher will explain what type of shoe she needs.
Tap
Age 4 and Older
Focuses on basic rhythmic training and fundamentals in Tap.
Dance Attire: tan “mary jane” style tap shoes, socks or tights, leotard
Acrobatics
Age 4 and Older
Acrobatics is similar to floor exercise in gymnastics. It is a dance form that requires strength, balance and agility. Basic moves include headstand, back bend, front over, round off, cartwheel and handspring.All classes meet once a week for 45 minutes, unless otherwise noted.
Dance Attire: no shoes, leotard or gym shorts and shirt (must be tucked in)
Jazz
Age 4 and Older
A dance form that requires strength, flexibility and isolated movements performed to popular music.
Dance Attire: tan jazz shoes, socks or tights, leotard
Lyrical
Age 11 and Older
A dance form that which fuses modern, jazz and ballet. The dancer must be well aware of facial expressions to properly perform a lyrical piece. The class requires a strong background in fundamentals of dance.
Dance Attire: tan foot thongs, leotard
Modern
Age 6 and Older
Interpretive, contemporary dance that joins the beauty of Ballet and the excitement of Jazz.
Dance Attire: no shoes, leotard
Cheerleading
Age 5 and Older
This class will combine tumbling, dance, cheer and basic stunting. Students are encouraged to have some background in acrobatics in order to keep up with the class curriculum.
Dance Attire: all-white cheerleading shoes, gym shorts and shirt (must be tucked in)
